About Helen

Background

Following a B.A. hons degree in Jewellery from Sheffield Hallam University I returned home to Liverpool and worked for several jewellers. I set up Helen M Ford Jewellery in 1997 as I wanted to do something a bit different from that which was being sold in jewellery shops at the time. I would say my jewellery style is contemporary, simple, clean lines with a unique twist.

The main part of my work is re-modelling and commission jewellery; “making heirlooms for the future” as I like to call it! All of the gold and silver I use is recycled and my diamonds are conflict free. I can usually trace my coloured stones back to source.

When I am not making jewellery I enjoying walking with my husband and son, gardening, reading and listening to podcasts.

Consultations

My vision was always to have a jewellery studio or workshop where I could create my own pieces and operate “by appointment” consultations. These consultations are available in person in my studio, in your home, by phone, email or Zoom. My role during the consultation is to really listen to what a customer wants from their jewellery – their lifestyle, tastes, budget, personal style, etc. From this consultation I can create a page of designs hopefully capturing the essence of what we have discussed.

Business Values

To make contemporary and original pieces without imitation to ensure your jewellery is unique

To use traditional techniques and new technology to produce high quality bespoke jewellery to last a lifetime

To listen carefully and to work in collaboration with my customers

To strive for individuality in an evermore generic world, how can jewellery be personal is everyone is wearing the same pieces?

To breath new life into inherited and heirloom jewellery and gemstones in a modern and innovative way

To use only environmental and ethically sourced materials

Testimonials

I found Helen online when I wanted my eternity and engagement rings redesigned. She was great. She drew me some designs and advised on the best way forward. She actually advised that the cheaper of the designs would be best. I went ahead, although I didn’t feel obliged, and she completed the redesign in less than the expected time. I am delighted with the outcome and love my new (redesigned) rings. I like Helen’s work so much I have asked her to make me a heavy silver chain and bracelet with hearts attached to include the engraved initials of my nieces and nephews. Helen is extremely helpful and her prices very competitive!!! Thanks Helen, really appreciate your help!!!!

Helen really does offer exceptional service & at such a competitive price! I’ve been fortunate enough to have a few pieces from Helen over a number of years now, & I really couldn’t imagine going anywhere else now. She initially repaired a ring I’d had to get cut off in an emergency after a broken finger accident; I didn’t hold out much hope at the time as it was a real mess, but by the time she’d finished, I swear it was better than ever! She also remodelled a couple of pieces I’d inherited that had great sentimental value, but were largely unwearable. Instead of my grandad’s watch chain just languishing in a box gathering dust, she really sympathetically transformed it into a bespoke bracelet that I’m proud to wear & which always gets compliments & interested comments, plus I get to feel close to family when I’m faraway -so important at times like this.

Helen has made various special pieces of jewellery for me over the years – all as requested and it’s great to know I have something unique and handmade, that hasn’t cost as much as I thought it would.
I can’t recommend Helen enough from the designs she did, right the way through to the finished pieces. The attention to detail is fantastic! I always get compliments on my jewellery and feel very lucky to have found her. Thank you 💎
